Located in Saint Martin de Belleville in the Villarencel district, La BERGERIE is ideally situated. Walking through the charming little streets, you can reach the village square in a few minutes on foot, with its baroque church, its shops open all year round, its restaurants and the ski lift giving access to the largest ski area in the world, the 3 Valleys.
In the heart of the old village, with its small typical chapel, this old building, which will be entirely renovated, will seduce you with its authenticity. The existing structure is representative of the traditional mountain habitat, with the vaulted volume on the ground floor which housed the men and animals in winter and the upper levels for the storage of hay and agricultural tools. Its vernacular architecture, characteristic of Bellevillois buildings, makes it a rare property in Saint Martin de Belleville.
The ambition of this beautifully crafted renovation is to transform an old house, whose picturesque character has been respected, into modern, luxurious accommodation.
To this end, numerous openings were created, while preserving as much as possible the original facades made of local stone. The roof was entirely renovated with slate slabs and balconies with wrought iron railings were added.
The organisation of the volumes has also been thought out so that the dwelling benefits from the best assets of the existing building.
The volume of the living room is located under the attic. It allows for the creation of a bright and spacious living room with high ceilings and large panoramic windows that open onto the surrounding landscape. The main facade of this room is south-west facing, which makes it a perfect exposure for the sunshine and the magnificent view of the snow-covered peaks.
Another important asset is that the beautiful vaults on the ground floor have been preserved as a reminder of the history and originality of the place.
This new renovation programme is in line with our philosophy: to enhance the local heritage by preserving and restoring the soul of the mountain villages and to bring a touch of modernity and innovative ideas, with the desire to create a delicate alchemy between the past and the present.
